Capsule Hotels
Compact sleeping, of several sorts. Some of these are capsules in the strict sense: an enclosed berth in a shared corridor, with the bathing done elsewhere. Others are cabins in a terminal or small lofts, and where that is the case the entry says so in its first lines rather than letting the section title stand for it.
The Millennials Shibuya
Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan
Sleeping places here are enclosed berths rather than rooms, each with a bed that can be raised by motor into a seat or a working position. A screen closes the opening. The address is one branch of a small operator with sites in other Japanese cities, and this is the Shibuya one.
Shared floors carry most of the function: long work tables with power at every seat, a lounge, showers, and lockers for luggage. Breakfast and a communal kitchen are part of the arrangement. The building runs as much like a workspace with beds as like a hotel.
Shibuya station is a short walk through the streets behind Dogenzaka, and the crossing, the department stores and the small bars of Nonbei Yokocho are all in the same district.

Bay Hotel Ginza
Ginza, Tokyo, Japan
Berths are stacked in two tiers along shared corridors, each closed with a curtain or a panel and holding a mattress, a light and a socket. This is a capsule address in the strict sense rather than a set of small rooms. By the operator's account, the sleeping floors are separated by gender.
Bathing is communal, with a changing room and showers on the floor. Luggage goes into lockers rather than into the berth. A lounge with seating and vending machines takes the shared space, and the desk keeps night hours for late arrivals.
The house is in the Ginza district, close to the department store blocks and a short walk from the outer market at Tsukiji, with several subway lines within a few streets.

izZzleep Mexico City Airport
Airport terminal building, Mexico City, Mexico
These are cabins inside the airport terminal, meant for a stop between flights rather than for a stay in the city. Each holds a bed, a light and a place for a bag, and they are let by the hour as well as by the night. They are not hotel rooms and are not sold as such.
Bathrooms and showers are shared and sit outside the cabins. Staff keep a desk in the same area. Because the whole thing is inside the terminal, the surroundings are the airport's own: desks, shops and the noise of the concourse on the other side of the wall.
The terminal is joined to the rest of Mexico City by metro and by road, though the point of the address is that a traveller need not leave the airport at all between one flight and the next.

Zoku Amsterdam
Weesperstraat, Amsterdam, Netherlands
These are not capsules. Zoku lets compact lofts, each with a bed on a raised platform, a table, a kitchen counter and a stair up to the sleeping level, sized for a stay of weeks rather than a night. The operator runs the same format in other European cities, and this is the Amsterdam house.
Communal space takes the upper floors: a kitchen and dining room, a rooftop greenhouse with terraces, work rooms and a laundry. The desk doubles as a bar. Much of the building is arranged for people who are working while they stay.
The house stands on Weesperstraat, near the Amstel and the Hortus Botanicus, with Waterlooplein and the museums of the old Jewish quarter a few streets away and a metro station close by.

This site is independent and reference-only. Compact addresses change their arrangements often: floors are reassigned, shared rooms are refitted and conditions of stay are revised. What is written here came from open sources and can date quickly. Nothing is affiliated with the operators named, nothing is sold and nothing is reserved. Ask the house directly.
